Belenus Age: 37 Race: Human Birthplace: Gerabellum Gender: Male Class: Head Guard Battle orientation: Swordsman Belenus's story is short and sad, and was elaborated on in both the Material Collection and the manga. What they tell is is basically what you can guess from his senario in the game. This is a combination of that information, guesswork, and opinion. He was noted for his fairness as the lord of Lassen, but we don't really hear much else (and by the time I went back to Lassen in the game, it was totally deserted, so I couldn't ask around). The book says his marriage was arranged with another noble family, so there was no love there. Maria probably found Asaka when Belenus was around twenty, but I'm not sure if it happened before or after the marriage. She was a constant sore spot for his wife - who remains unnamed as far as I know - and she suspected he had an affair with Asaka, though I don't think it says one way or another. His wife cursed the house when she died, presumably aiming all of her hostility at Asaka, and we see the results of this in the game when she's attacked by the vampire. He finally admits that he loves her during this scene, but the MC seems to take the attitude that all of this misery was his fault for being indecisive - it was his own denial that caused his wife's bitterness, and then Asaka's death. When Valkyrie calls it 'destiny,' you can see where the web of fate touches Belenus's life through these actions. It's kind of a harsh take on the story, but if you boil it down, it all comes to communication, and the complete lack of it between Belenus and everyone else. Human relationships can't work like that, so I kind of agree with the book, myself. His wife might have made different choices if he'd been honest with her.
