Because she spends much of her time looking over warriors in Hai-lan she also carries an odd weapon for a Valkyrie, a large Kusari-gama. **Personality: Bubbly and polite, almost embarrassingly deferential to the Greater Valkyrie. Tends to be cheerful, taking events in stride and occasionally playing pranks. However, she is an unholy terror in combat, becoming cold and almost merciless. Character Information --------------------- -Name: Kara Valkyrie -Age: Immortal (16 by Midgard reckoning) -Gender: Female -Occupation(s): Lesser Valkyrie, Freya's Handmaiden -General Description: The Lesser Valkyrie are the handmaidens of the greatest of the Aesir and the choosers of the slain, as well as war leaders for the armies of fallen warriors in the eternal battle against the undead, giants, and vanir. Kara is among the youngest of the Valkyrie, and has only recently started to assist in the choosing of the slain. She appears to be very young, no older than fifteen or sixteen years old, with long fiery red hair that falls to her waist, only to be restrained by a silver hair clasp just short of the end. Her bright green eyes brim with energy, and she has a slight cast to her features that might suggest to a mortal that her family had come from Hai-lan to the continent some years ago. Her Valkyrie armor, which she wears most of the time except when among the mortals, is a polished silver in color with black edging. It is similar in appearance to Lenneth's armor, except simpler in design. There are fewer ridges and tracings, and instead of the skirt Kara's armor has a pair of loose pants, with a fringe of black crystals running down the outside. Her helm has only two feathers, and instead of a sword she carries a Kusari-gama, a sickle and chain, as her weapon. -Personality: Bright and cheerful with the optimism of youth, Kara tends to show regularly that she is among the youngest of the lesser Valkyrie. She tries to see the bright side of any situation, and goes out of her way to cheer and reassure her Einherjar to their new state. She tends to be almost embarrassingly polite and respectful to the Greater Valkyrie, and is friendly to her fellow Lesser Valkyrie. However, she changes in battle, and tends to be ruthless and cold towards both her enemies and friends alike, although she appears on the surface to retain her cheerful character - and woe be to those who anger or disappoint her in such a state. -Background and History: No one knows quite where Kara came from - only that one day, four years before, Freya presented Odin's court at Valhalla with a young girl twelve years of age. Already bedecked in her Valkyrie vestments and brimming with energy, young Kara managed to win over Lord Odin and was accepted as one of his personal servants, to be assigned to serve one of the three Greater Valkyrie when it came time for them to be awakened from their long slumber. It was rumored that Kara was one of Freya's daughters whom she had selected to serve Odin as a sign of good faith, or that she was a mortal soul who had shown great promise in her previous existence, and was transformed into a Valkyrie as a reward for her devotion and bravery. Regardless of her beginnings, Kara has since proven to be quite competent in her craft, and is modestly ranked among the lesser Valkyrie despite her young age. Her charming and cheerful manner has won her the affection (and the occasional courtship) of many of the gods, including Thor and Loki. However, in truth Kara is Freya's agent, a willing pawn who observes the workings of the Aesir and brings this information to Freya so the Goddess of Life and Death can continue to plan for the coming of Ragnarok. She has also been assigned to watch the Greater Valkyrie as they awaken and being to serve for any signs of... 'deviation' from their chosen task, and inform Freya of any problems that may arise. No other god knows of Kara's mission except for Freya, and it is a secret that she will be very reluctant to reveal - Kara would much rather die than betray her mistress. -Birthdate: Unknown -Height: 5 feet 5 inches -Weight: 88 lbs -Eyes (color and shape): Bright green, the color of brilliant emeralds, with a very faint oriental slant to them. -Complexion: Fair, tending to be a little pale. -Hair (color and style): Bright, almost fiery red, with the occasional strand of silver laced throughout. Kara wears her hair almost to her waist, where it is bound at the bottom by a bright silver clasp etched with runes. -Voice: A low soprano, and almost lilting most of the time. Tends to be very cheerful and bubbly when speaking. -Clothing: As Hai-lan is Kara's usual stomping grounds, she tends to adopt clothing that allows her to blend in with the natives as best she can. She will wear either a normal kimono, favored by young women of the country, in one of several different styles or patterns depending on her mood. Her 'warrior' clothing, which she wears when she is not using her Valkyrie armor, is similar to a classic 'Ronin' samurai in the area - long, loose pants in a light gray color, and a loose gi in a slightly darker shade of gray. She normally wears a bandage wrap around her stomach and breasts under the Gi, as well as a wide black sash. She will wear either sandals or boots as the situation calls for them. However, her most distinctive feature is that she will often wear an eye patch when in her fighting garb, enhancing her image as a hardened fighter. Kara's Valkyrie armor is similar to Lenneth, Silmeria, and Hrist's armors, except that it is much less elaborate as befits her lower rank. It is constructed of a polished silver, with black highlighting to contrast to its bright appearance. Her helm only has two feathers instead of the three on a Greater Valkyrie's armor, and instead of the wide, fringed skirt uses a pair of loose Hai-lan style pants, with a fringe of small black crystals running down the sides. In combat she uses two floating shields, also silver and black in color, to defend herself. -Tools (Weapons, Magic, Armour): Kara's primary weapon is a magical Kusari-Gama, a large hand scythe with a wide blade that stretches back over the handle to end in two spikes. The blade itself is almost two feet in length, and the handle is almost a yard long. Normally it is capped with a small spiked ball, which detaches from the weapon and is attacked by a thin chain. The mystic enchantments on the weapon allow the chain to expand and contract to any size, as well as allow it to be guided with Kara's mind. Thus it seems like the spike and chain move of their own volition, lashing and seeking to entangle Kara's opponent. Her other primary tool is her Valkyrie armor, a manifestation of her power as a lesser Valkyrie. While wearing this she can manifest her powers of flight, as well as greatly resist damage and magic. -Abilities/Disabilities: The standard array of abilities for a Lesser Valkyrie - the ability to sense the thoughts of those about to die, as well as absorb the souls of the slain and manifest them again using her Divine Materialize Energy. In addition, Kara has a link with Freya that allows her to communicate with her mistress from Midgard. Like all of the Gods, Kara is very difficult to kill. When her energy is depleted she instead dissolves in a shower of light, to later reform when she has recovered her focus. Only the most powerful of mortal magicians using the forbidden magic, Vanir, Giants, or other Aesir can hope to truly kill Kara.
