Flenceburg Capitol: Flenceburg Government: monarchy Major Landmarks: Flenceburg, Salerno Flenceburg is a monoarchy that lies in the southeast and is home to the Sorcery Collegium. The teachers there are deeply involved in politics and it is a paradise for those interested in pure research. Now, make a note here: this is speculation and opinion. The paragraph up there in italics is all they tell us in the game. Flenceburg is probably the only country in VP that is not mobilizing for war. They aren't even on the chart - maybe because they've got the Sorcery Academy on their side. ^.^ The citizens are prosperous, happy, and secure, as the description indicates - no other conditions would foster such a concentration on academia. However, Flenceburg's tendency toward the cerebral side of the spectrum is a mixed blessing - the citizens don't suffer the dangers of war, but the heavy emphasis on politics is almost as bad. The game tells us nothing about the King or the nobility, but since there was no sign of anyone besides students, it looks like magic is god in this kingdom, and the teachers and researchers at the Academy are its messangers. I can't think of much else to say. Flenceburg is steeped in luxury - if you look at the designs for the characters native to the country, they're wrapped in more finery than Jelanda pranced around in, with better taste. (And these are teachers, students, and exiles!) The style is refined and intricate, and kind of similar to the designs used for Asgard. The personality traits one finds for Lezard, Lorenta, and Mystina make me think that "poor" just doesn't exist here at all. Or if it does, it's so well-hidden that it might as well not be there. While mucking around in the World Guidence Book I came across a note that equated Flenceburg with Denmark (or at least, I think I did. I haven't been able to find it again, which should tell you how sure I am about it). It's a possibility, but I know next to nothing about Denmark. My mind says it fits, but I have no evidence to prove it. Salerno, for those wondering, is probably not technically property of Flenceburg. I put it there because it was a research facility, and back when I started this page, I thought I had reason to believe they are related. I don't remember why, now. ^.^ |
